January 12th, 2001Jonathan Weinand, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist with Great River Mental Health Care Associates, was recently elected to the American Psychological Association's (APA) Continuing Professional Education Committee (CPEC). Dr. Weinand will serve a three-year term of office.
The CPEC's mission is to create and implement national standards for continuing professional education for state licensure of psychologists. The CPEC also accredits all clinical programs for continuing education units for psychologists in the United States. Dr. Weinand was elected to the committee to represent rural clinical psychologists due to his interest in the creation of clinical workshops for rural psychologists using web technology. He has received funding from the APA to attend CPEC meetings in Washington, D.C., on a semiannual basis.
Dr. Weinand is a member of the APA, the Association for the Advancement of Behavioral Therapy and the Iowa Psychological Association (IPA). He also serves on the IPA's Ethics Board.
