“The Well Workplace process establishes criteria to measure the success of corporate health promotion programs,” said Jamie Dengler, employee wellness supervisor, Great River Health Systems. “By following the standards set forth in the Well Workplace criteria, we can develop programs that are much more than activity-based initiatives.”
The Well Workplace Award recognizes an organization for its commitment to the health and well-being of its employees. Standards include:
• Effective programs to increase awareness, educate and encourage behavior change in employees
• Management commitment for the program
• Supportive policies
• Written annual operating plan specific to health promotion
The Wellness Council of Iowa is an affiliate of the Wellness Councils of America, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to building healthier workplaces nationwide. More than 100 Iowa employers are members of the Wellness Council, representing nearly 80,000 employees.
