Great River Medical Center President and CEO Mark Richardson was appointed treasurer of the Iowa Hospital Association Board. The election was held Wednesday, Oct. 3, during the House of Delegates meeting at the 78th IHA Annual Meeting in Des Moines. Richardson also is chairman of the IHA Council on Representation and Advocacy.

The Iowa Hospital Association is a voluntary membership organization representing hospital and health system interests to business, government and consumer audiences. All 117 of Iowa’s community hospitals are IHA members.

A native of Fort Dodge, Richardson received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Iowa. He has served as CEO at Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt; Jane Lamb Health Center in Clinton; and North Country Health Services in Bemidji, Minn., where he was named one of the 10 Outstanding Young Minnesotans in 1994.

At Great River Health Systems, Richardson has been very involved in community activities and initiatives, including chairman of Junior Achievement, president of the United Way board of directors and chairman of Grow Greater Burlington. In 2007, he was named the Mississippi Valley Council Boy Scouts of America’s Distinguished Citizen of the Year.
