Great River Medical Center has been surveyed by the Iowa Medical Society and awarded full (four-year) accreditation as a provider of continuing medical education for physicians.

Continuing medical education programs provide opportunities for physicians to acquire new skills and knowledge to maintain competence in their fields and to assure high-quality medical care for their patients. In Iowa, physicians must earn at least 40 hours of Category 1 continuing medical education credit every three years for medical license renewal.

Iowa Medical Society accreditation assures both physicians and the public that Great River Medical Center’s continuing medical education activities meet high standards. The society is recognized by the national Accreditation Council on Continuing Medical Education. The American Hospital Association, American Medical Association and American Association for Hospital Medical Education are among the council’s members.
