Great River Medical Center is bringing complete physical therapy services to Wapello, Iowa. Great River Physical Therapy will open Monday, May 11. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.


Physical therapist Bill Myers, who lives in Sperry, Iowa, will treat patients who are referred by a physician. He has worked in the hospital’s Rehabilitation Services Department for nearly 30 years.


“We’re pleased to bring a dedicated outpatient physical therapy center to residents of south Louisa and north Des Moines counties,” said Robb Gardner, director, Rehabilitation Services. “High-level services are available for adolescents to seniors. The convenience of the new facility will save people in the Wapello area time and money spent on traveling to another facility.”


Great River Physical Therapy will provide treatment for a variety of conditions, including:

  • Arthritis and fibromyalgia

  • Balance and work-related injuries

  • Neck and back pain

  • Neurological problems such as stroke, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease

  • Postoperative impairment following arthroscopic and joint surgery, and amputation

  • Sports-related injuries

  • Trauma from a motor vehicle accident, broken bones or a fall
