District 18 ABATE of Iowa will sponsor its Fifth Annual Mystery Ride Saturday, July 18, to raise money for Great River Hospice, West Burlington, and Lee County Hospice, Fort Madison, Iowa. A shotgun start is scheduled at Noon, rain or shine.

ABATE, A Brotherhood Aimed Toward Education, is a not-for-profit organization for motorcyclists. Automobiles also may participate in the Mystery Ride.

The ride will start at Papa's Bar & Grill, Summitville, Iowa. Registration is from 10 a.m. to Noon; there is a $7 fee. The ride will end at Whitey's Bar & Billiards, 2601 Madison Ave., Burlington.

The route will be given on the day of the ride. At each stop, riders will look for hidden objects to complete a mystery. Participants also can register to play card hands, collecting a card at each stop.

All riders must return by 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to join them at Whitey's for a hog roast, raffle, silent auction and dunk tank.

"Hospice provides compassionate care for people at end-of life. I can't think of a better group to help raise some money for," said Mystery Ride Coordinator Earl Davis.

Proceeds given to Great River Hospice will help support Great River Hospice House, a home for patients at end-of-life and their families. The house has met the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of more than 200 patients since opening in October 2007.
