Great River Wound and Hyperbaric Clinic has been awarded three-year accreditation with distinction from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). It is the only wound clinic in the United States to receive accreditation with distinction from UHMS and certification from the Joint Commission in Disease-Specific Outpatient Wound Management.

Hyperbaric facilities must meet more than 700 standards to become accredited. They include patient care and rights, administration, education, infection control, maintenance and quality. Only 10 percent of hyperbaric clinics nationwide are accredited. Achieving accreditation with distinction recognizes superior performance in specific activities and standards.

The Wound and Hyperbaric Clinic opened in 2004 and earned its first UHMS accreditation in 2007. It has provided more than 12,000 hyperbaric oxygen treatments.

UHMS is a nonprofit professional organization that serves members in more than 50 countries. It is a member of the Joint Commission’s Liaison Network and uses the commission’s guidelines for accreditation.
