Great River Health Systems will donate half the $30 physical fee to the athlete’s school for use in the athletic department. Parents or athletes should call the clinic of their choice to schedule an appointment. Athletes do not need to have their physicals in the community in which they attend school. They will identify which school they attend when they have their physical, and this school will receive half the physical fee.
The sports physicals include:
- Flexibility, strength and joint-stability tests
- General health review
- Vision screening
Besides providing an assessment of an athlete’s health, the physicals may help detect potential problems that could lead to an injury. If such a problem is discovered, screening staff will provide athletes with an exercise or rehabilitation plan to address the concern. If necessary, they also will make appropriate referrals to other health-care providers.
Parents or athletes must bring a completed physical form (available at the schools) and cash or check for payment. These are sports physicals only; insurance will not be filed.
