Great River Friends, a community of donors and volunteers that supports Great River Health Systems, is accepting applications for scholarships for the 2013-2014 school year. The goal of the scholarship program is to help students reach their goals and encourage quality health-care providers to stay in or return to the community.
Two types of scholarships are offered to students pursuing health-care careers:
High school scholarship â€“ Applicants must be a senior in high school, have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average, and live in or attend a school within Great River Health Systemsâ€™ service area (approximately 60 miles).
Continuing college student scholarship â€“ Applicants must have graduated from a high school in Great River Health Systemsâ€™ service area in the last 10 years and have completed at least one year of college. Students in graduate school may apply.
Scholarship applications must be postmarked by Friday, Feb. 15. Applications are available from high school counselors, on Great River Health Systemsâ€™ website, www.greatrivermedical.org, or by calling Great River Volunteer Services at 319-768-3340.
