Great River Health Systems is scheduling group tours of the new Great River Klein Center for February and early March. Groups of 10 or more interested in touring the new facility should call the health systems’ Public Relations Department at 319-768-3301. A public open house is planned for Saturday, March 9. Residents at the current Klein Center in Burlington will move to the new facility Wednesday, March 20.

The new Klein Center will provide a homelike atmosphere for people who cannot live in their homes. Next to the lake on Great River Health Systems’ campus in West Burlington, Iowa, it has 160 private rooms and designated neighborhoods for skilled and dementia care.

Each household consists of 16 private rooms, an activity kitchen, dining room, meeting room and laundry room. At the main entrance, Town Center is an indoor mall of services such as a chapel, gift shop, hair-care shop, large community room, library, main office and restorative gym.

Construction on the new 127,000 square foot facility began in June 2011. The cost of the project is about $30 million.
